This stunning sphere is made from a rare form of Iolite, also known as Water Sapphire or Cordierite. It’s not the typical gemmy variety you see in jewelry—this one is found in larger formations and expertly polished in Madagascar. Only a small amount ever hits the market, making each piece truly special.

What sets it apart is its deep, moody blue that shifts in the light—sometimes almost black, other times revealing flashes of violet or even streaks of electric blue, especially in newer finds from the Northern Cape. It’s got a mysterious, almost cosmic vibe that reminds me of labradorite.

Iolite is known for showing different colors depending on how you look at it, a quality called pleochroism. That shifting energy feels symbolic to me—like embracing all the layers of who you are.
